One of the most well-known images of the Madonna in the USA is Our Lady of Miracles or Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. It is found in garden and yard statuary, in home personal shrines, on rosaries and prayer beads, key chains, and necklaces. The Miraculous Medal is also known as the Medal of the Immaculate Conception. I remember seeing it everywhere as a kid.
She also appears on prayer candles sold in s sundry hoodoo supply place, usually in both English and Spanish.
The design of the Miraculous Medal (French: Medaille miraculeuse) came to a French nun, Saint Catherine Laboure, in 1830 during a vision. Saint Catherine Laboure is reported to have experienced several apparitions of the Blessed Mother in the 19th century.
