Outdoor Stew

I got this recipe from another Wiccan at an FSA gathering. I think it was in 1986. My advice to all new seekers is to record the date of anything someone give you, as well as the person's name. Ah, memories. In any case, I pass it on here, just as she had written it. I've never made it and don't know at what event it was served at. It looks like something for one of the harvest feasts, perhaps Mabon or Samhain.

A Stew to Make in the Circle at an Outdoor Meet

Place four plates at the altar, containing:

1. 8 lbs tomatoes, 4 green peppers and 6 large onions
2. 2 1/2 dozen ears of corn and 5 cups uncooked barley
3. 1/2 gallon milk (or wine) and 1/2 gallon water
4. 10 lb precooked stew meat
Place all into a large cauldron over the fire. Add salt, pepper and herbs as desired. Cook til stew is hot and barley tender.

Serve with cornbread and honey.
