Medicinal Clay Recipe for Healthy Skin

This receipe is attributed to Father Kneipp, a German priest and physician to the poor. According to Kneipp, "Nature has provided us generously with everything we need to remain in good health."
Father Kneipp's Original Recipe

Equal parts of dry powdered clay and apple cider vinegar are mixed in a bowl into paste. This paste can be applied about 1/8 thick on the face or other areas of the body. The absorbant clay paste draws toxins, excess oil, and dirt from the skin as it dries. After about 5-15 minutes the clay can be gently removed by washing with warm water. The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay website states,"A slight redness may appear after removing the clay. This is normal and will disappear in approximately 30 minutes."

According to the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay website, this clay mixture should be made with Bentonite green clay and raw, organic apple cider vinegar and ought to be mixed up without metal. In other words, it should be stirred with a wooden spoon in a glass, ceramic, or wooden bowl.

Father Sebastian Kneipp (1821-1897) was a German priest who believed in the healing power of nature. In 1850, Kneipp allegedly cured himself of "consumption" (tuberculosis) by bathing two or three times a week in cold water.

Kneipp believed that disease was due to toxins in the blood that were not eliminated from the body. He developed a system of healthly living, which consisted of hydrotherapy (bathing in and drinking cold water), heliotherapy (sunshine), going to bed and rising early, long barefoot walks in wet grass, herbs, and simple meals consisting mostly of whole grain cereals.
